The Eastern Fox Tail Squirl Facts:

Size: They are the largest species of tree squirrels native to North America.

Color: Their fur ranges from a grizzled grayish-brown to a rust-brown color. The underparts are typically lighter, often a tawny or orange-brown color.

Tail: Their tails are bushy and long, providing balance and warmth.

Diet: They primarily eat nuts, seeds, fruits, and fungi, but they also consume insects, bird eggs, and other small animals.

Habitat: They are commonly found in forests, suburban areas, and urban parks. They prefer open areas with scattered trees and can often be seen foraging on the ground.

Activity: Fox squirrels are diurnal, meaning they are active during the day, particularly in the morning and late afternoon.

Here’s Some Real Fun Facts:

Communication: They use a variety of vocalizations and tail movements to communicate with each other.

Nesting: They build nests called dreys in the forks of trees, which are made from leaves and twigs.

Winter gave way to spring. It was a turning point for me. I marked the Spring Solstice. I improvised a way to mark the eclipse in spite of not having the appropriate gear.

I decided to get out and take pictures of wildflowers as the weather warmed. I never expected the joys that I would find in my journey.
